1. Do your profits really go to charity?
The Fleet Gift Shop is a non-profit organization run by the Naval Officers’ Spouses’ Club of Okinawa. Of the profits given to NOSCO, a portion is given to educational scholarships and the remainder is submitted to the American Welfare & Works Association (AWWA), which in turn gives contributions to both American and Japanese charities.
2. What types of payments do you accept?
We accept cash (dollars only), check, and credit card payments (Visa and MasterCard only). There is a minimum of $20 for credit card purchases. We would truly appreciate your support by paying in either cash or check while making purchases at the Fleet Gift Shop. In 2013, we incurred $10,500 in credit and debit card fees. The less we pay in these fees, the more that we are able to give to charity.
3. Do you do returns/exchanges?
Unfortunately, we do not accept returns or exchanges. All sales are final. Please check your items before purchasing.
4. When do you get your shipments? Where do you shop?
We usually get shipments every two months. We shop in Thailand, Bali, the Philippines, Vietnam, India, and Shanghai.
5. Do you hire?
Yes, we do! If we have any openings they will be posted here and on our Facebook page.
6. I’m interested in volunteering, how do I get involved?

7. How do I become a vendor?
If you are a crafty military spouse or Japanese local and would like to be a part of the Fleet Gift Shop all you have to do is bring us a sample of your work during our business hours, as well as a detailed description of your work. Please add your contact information, the price of your items, how you got started, how you make your items or anything else you think is relevant. We will take your samples to the next NOSCO board meeting, where they will vote. We will contact you shortly after and let you know. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact us.
8. Can I order online? Do you mail items?
We get this question a lot! Unfortunately, we do not offer these services, but if you have a friend in Okinawa I’m sure they wouldn’t mind sending you some FGS goodies!
9. Can I place a custom made order?
If you’re looking for a custom-made vendor item, most of our vendors offer custom orders! Contact us and let us know which vendor and what item, and we will put you in contact with them.
10. What is a ‘Shop Night’?
Any organization can hold a social night or an informational evening at the Fleet Gift Shop. During ‘Shop Nights’ we open the store in the evening and your group will have the store all to themselves; special discounts can be provided to groups of 15 or more.
