Our Story

The Naval Officers’ Spouses’ Club of Okinawa (NOSCO) founded the Fleet Gift Shop (FGS).

NOSCO is a social and service club for officer spouses on Okinawa. It is a non-profit, charitable, and educational organization, providing welfare to the military and local communities, as well as, scholarship opportunities. Its purpose is to provide opportunities for mutual companionship and support for our members and further the well-being of the community.

The purpose of the Fleet Gift Shop is to raise funds for NOSCO and to provide a unique shopping experience for military families. Of the profits given to NOSCO, a portion is given to educational scholarships. The remainder is submitted to the American Women’s Welfare Association (AWWA), which in turn gives contributions to both American and Japanese charities.

The FGS carries merchandise from Shanghai, India, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam. Staff members from the gift shop go on buy trips to these countries to purchase items to sell in the store. The selection of merchandise includes furniture, home decor, clothing, kids items, and more.  There are also items from local vendors and military spouses for sale in the shop. The Fleet Gift Shop has something for everyone!
